Oral presentation expectations

"Ma vie en sac" - My life in a bag
Oral presentation

Students have to bring 3 objects that represent their life. Students often have difficulties understanding what "represent" means. To  help understand this better, we have done some brainstorming on the bag, drawing objects and activities they like, their family origin/traditions/celebrations, favourite places, etc. Students must choose the  objects
- with which they can make meaningful personal connection.
- that are small enough to fit in the bag given (7.5" x 4.5" x 15")
- if it is something too big or not appropriate to bring to school (things they might lose or break), they can make a little drawing on a piece of paper and bring it instead.

Here are the success criteria that we have built together for the presentation.

Knowledge & Understanding
-  Sentences used are rich and varied (less repetition, use knowledge of complex sentences with adjectives, adverbs, etc.)
- Sentences make sense.

Thinking
- All three items were brought to the presentation.
- Length of the presentation is about 2 minutes.
- Shows evidence of planning and practice.

Communication
- The volume is appropriate.
- Makes eye contact with the audience.
- Speak fluently so that the presentation flows at an appropriate rhythm.

Application
- Clear introduction and closure as studied in class.
- Uses learned language structures and vocabulary specific to oral presentation.
- Makes meaningful personal connection to the objects.
