1. In Math...
We have finished our patterning unit in which we learned to describe, extend, and create a variety of numeric patterns and geometric patterns.
Students using different types of pasta and legumes to make different patterns using their knowledge of attributes.
And this activity was extended to visual arts. Students created an artwork including different patterns using the same materials and describe their patterns in writing.
Students using the Chromebooks to create their own design on a grid pattern.
Students have also built towers using marshmallow and toothpicks and solved a patterning problem using a problem-solving model and a table.
The patterning unit was concluded with a final test which has been graded and sent home. We got to also start our following unit on data management. Before the break, we started to learn to organize categorical or discrete primary data and display the data using Venn diagram with two and three circles. This was introduced using attribute blocks.
2. In Literacy and Drama...
To conclude our series of activities for bullying prevention, we wrote a short script of a simple comic strip and did a tableau activity to show our understanding of all the learned concepts on the topic. The assessment will be sent home in January.
3. In Visual Arts...
We have created a snow eating child art using pastel and cotton balls. It decorated our hallway for the month of December.
To continue to create art using a variety of materials, we also created mini hat ornaments using toilet paper rolls and yarns.
January newsletter and even calendar will be sent home on the first day back to school.
Hope everyone had a relaxing winter break. Thank you everyone for your continued support.
M. Jung.
